Aviation
Aviation hangars represent a unique fire protection challenge. Immense, high-ceiling structures that house mobile, high-value assets and contain multiple sources of Class A and Class B fire hazards require special measures of protection. Non-fluorinated, high-expansion foam systems from Johnson Controls are well-suited for suppression of three-dimensional fires that can occur within these hangars. In combination with Tyco DV-5A deluge valves’ unique remote reset feature, these systems provide highly effective protection for aircraft. The broad complement of Tyco sprinkler systems can be custom-engineered for full structure protection.
Sentry CO2 wheeled units, foam hose reel stations, foam carts, and a full line of portable extinguishers provide a broad array of response options for small-scale Class A and Class B flammable liquid fires within a hangar.
Why partner with us:
- Johnson Controls offers a broad portfolio of UL listed, FM approved high-expansion foam systems.
- With the experience of more than a thousand installed high-expansion foam systems around the world, our technical service team is knowledgeable and available to assist with design, installation and commissioning of an optimized system to meet your facility’s special hazard needs.
Tank farms of jet fuel, diesel fuel, and other flammable liquids present a high fire and vapor hazard at aviation facilities. For years, Aqueous Film-Forming Foams (AFFFs) set the performance standard for suppressing these Class B fire and vapors. Johnson Controls new Non-Fluorinated Foam (NFF) technology delivers performance that rivals legacy AR-AFFFs.
Made specifically to protect people and property in areas like a tarmac where the potential for large-scale fires is always present, these heavy-duty wheeled units have greater extinguishing agent capacities than hand portable fire extinguishers. RED LINE wheeled units are highly mobile and can be fully operated by one person. Large diameter steel wheels quickly and more easily move the unit to the source of the fire, while the quick-opening valve option allows for fast, one-step actuation.
Wheeled extinguishers are available with dry chemical or special dry agent powders to provide maximum protection for many types of fire hazards. All wheeled extinguishers are manufactured with corrosion-resistant finishes and offer options including quick-opening valve, long-range nozzles and special wheels.
Airport security is paramount and the central control room is at the heart of the operation. Ensuring this mission-critical space is properly protected can make the difference in keeping airport operations running smoothly and on-time. Johnson Controls can help you take a wide, holistic view of the fire protection needs across the airport and select the best solution for the application.
Why partner with us:
- As a manufacturer of the industry’s broadest range of fire protection solutions, JCI has the expertise to help you select the right solution for your space
- SAPPHIRE PLUS is designed to quickly suppress fires in occupied areas without causing harm and where clean-up of other agents may pose a problem
- AquaMist ULF is a low-pressure, preaction water mist system that provides effective suppression while protecting sensitive equipment and reducing clean-up
- CLEANGUARD+ Extinguishers – Protection of facilities that typically contain sensitive or irreplaceable equipment and materials that could be damaged or destroyed by water, foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide, need a clean agent fire extinguisher. Offering superior performance, CLEANGUARD+ extinguishers are electrically nonconductive, environmentally friendly, and extremely low in toxicity. Rated for Class A, B, and C fires, the extinguisher agent leaves no residue, requires no cleanup after discharge, and will not cause collateral damage to materials, equipment, and facilities.
Johnson Controls has the expertise to help you determine the right solution to protect your server room in a cost-effective manner that respects the mission-critical nature of the space. As a manufacturer of both water-based and gaseous systems, JCI can help weigh the benefits of various solutions.
Why partner with us:
- SAPPHIRE PLUS is designed to quickly suppress fires in occupied areas without causing harm and where clean-up of other agents may pose a problem. SAPPHIRE® PLUS systems help reduce the footprint, installation cost and service time by offering higher fill densities to reduce the number of containers. The SAPPHIRE PLUS system is UL/ULC listed and carries FM and EN approvals. The system can be designed to meet the requirements of NFPA 2001, EN 15004 and ISO 14520 with components approved to provide top quality fire suppression.
- The ANSUL® Acoustic Nozzle – in combination with the SAPPHIRE PLUS Fire Suppression Systems, is suitable for suppressing fires in hazard areas where sound levels may affect sensitive electronic equipment. Typical applications for the acoustic nozzle include server rooms and data centers.
- AquaMist ULF is a low-pressure, preaction water mist system that uses less water than a traditional sprinkler system and provides effective suppression while protecting sensitive equipment and reducing clean-up. The system can also be supplied by potable water or water storage tanks, enabling it to work from the same supply and pump as your fire sprinkler system.
ANSUL restaurant systems protect cooking equipment for the world’s top brands over the past 50 years offering aesthetic and flexible designs and performance tested systems with international approvals.
- The R-102 Fire Suppression System incorporates a flexible design with an extremely effective ANSULEX Low pH Liquid Agent. This agent quickly knocks down flames and cools hot surfaces, while generating a tough vapor securing blanket that helps prevent re-flash.
- The PIRANHA Restaurant Fire Suppression System employs two extinguishing agents. First, the system attacks fire using the knockdown and securing capabilities of PRX Liquid Fire Suppressant. Water follows, quickly cooling the cooking media and further helping to prevent reflash. This automatic, pre-engineered, fixed fire suppression system also detects and suppresses fire in ventilating equipment
A fire in a control tower can mean cancelled flights that impact staff and passengers for an extended period. Ensuring this mission-critical space is properly protected can make the difference in how quickly an airport can be returned to operation. Johnson Controls can help you take a wide, holistic view of the fire protection needs across the airport and select the best solution for the application.
